Hairstyle Trends For 2009

Hairstyle Trends For 2009
By Paul Jones

2009 represents the year of change. In the realm of politics, 2009 will be welcomed with the election of the first African-American president. In the realm of economics, 2009 is a test of fire for the guts and acuity of businesspeople against the looming economic crisis. And in the realm of fashion, 2009 is the year for radical hairstyles! This trend towards the extremes is foreshadowed by the hairstyles worn by celebrities towards the end of 2008. But what, specifically, should women look out for and expect in 2009?

Radically short haircuts

The few last months of 2008 featured celebrities sporting short haircuts, especially the bob. Conventional fashion wisdom cautions women to strike a balance between flamboyance and taste, and therefore, the chic bob haircut has always been influenced by the age-old belief that long hair is generally beautiful. This is why we find TV show host Lily Allen sporting a longer bob cut, where her hair hovers gently between her neck and shoulders. This is also why Sarah Michelle Gellar wears the bob in a "safe" length.

However, in 2009, hairstylists can no longer ignore the challenge of making the bob radically shorter! Radically short haircuts have challenged the conventional image of long beautiful hair and won. Three of the most popular bob hair styles are the fringed bob that is sported by supermodel Agyness Deyn, the pixie crop that is worn by Victoria Beckham and Natalie Portman, and the cropped bob of Katie Holmes. Some fashion critics were offended by Katie's new hairstyle, stating that it was a little bit boyish. But other critics saw audacity in the hairstyle. After all, only women whose femininity radiates can wear such short cuts with ease and beauty.

Radically long styles

Obviously, the radically short haircuts may not work for many women's face shapes. Thus, it would be prudent for those with long hair to keep or increase the lengths of their tresses. But how do you style your long hair without being accused of being fashionably left behind? Fortunately, there are long hairstyles that will also be the vogue in 2009. To remember these choices, the words to keep in mind are bohemian, undulating, and unforgiving. Admittedly, these seemed to be unflattering words to describe hairstyles. But in 2009, these words will take on new fashion meanings.

The bohemian long hair luxuriously flows free from the top of the head, scatters rebelliously around the shoulders, and ends subtly, merging with the beautiful feminine body. Most of the fashion icons, such as Donna Karan and Anna Sui, have worn bohemian long hair. And the perfect specimens of this hairstyle are that of Lindsay Lohan and Giselle Bundchen.

The undulating hairstyle exploits the sexy wavy curls of long hair. But it should also invoke images of the rising and falling of the ocean waves, creating a sensuous mermaid out of a woman. In this style, long hair should be parted at the side, with the waves sinuously framing the face. Think of Ashley Olsen, Kyra Sedgwick, and Katherine Heigl for inspiration for this look.

And the unforgiving hairstyle is embodied by straight and sleek long hair. It can be parted at the center or parted at the side. The straightness of the hair strands is unforgiving, but the stylish elegance is undeniable. Check out Shannon Doherty and see if her hairstyle will sit well on you.

Radical hair color

After several decades of tolerating the idea of the "dumb blonde" and after several years of endorsing the mysteriousness of dark hair, 2009 has finally arrive to showcase the trendy radical color known as the peroxide blonde. Supermodel Kate Moss sported it and the world of fashion took notice. This shade of blonde bodes a technologically advanced future, faced by a daring attitude.

2009 will welcome change - including the world of hair styles!

Hair Styles For Women Over 40

Hair Styles For Women Over 40
By Terry Glass

Hairstyles for women over 40 wishing to change does have its obstacles but the first obstacle to overcome - providing you want to change, of course - is the perfectly natural fear that you may never look the same again. What if I don't like my new hair style you may think or what if my new hairstyle does not suit me or how can I get my old style back?

This sort of panicking is natural but unfounded. Hairstyles for women over 40 are no more than a series of variations on a simple theme - and it may surprise you to learn that I believe there are actually only nine alternatives. The various patterns can of course be mixed to produce hundreds of different effects, but there are only nine basic cuts, all of which can be grown out or re-styled fairly quickly. So never be afraid of changing your hairstyle.

The only really drastic step as far as changing styles for a women in her forties and older is concerned, is when someone with very long hair decides to have it all cut off. Apart from amazing your friends by having your hair tinted an outlandish color or turning up with a mass of curls when the day before you had completely straight hair, nothing is more dramatic than cutting off ten or twenty years of hair growth, because it will take a long , long time to grow back to that length again.

So think about your decision carefully. If your young you'll find the decision harder. Your long hair probably suits you and time seems to pass much more slowly and you cannot imagine ever having the patience to wait for it to grow again. If, however, you've reached an age when long hair is actually making you look older than you are then it's time to think about facing those scissors!

As we get older and develop character lines around the face - particularly around the eyes and mouth - long hair tends to emphasise the downward trend of these lines and exaggerate our age. It is for this reason that hairstyles for older women are often shorter and colored with highlights to take the emphasis away from the face.

You can only get away with long hairstyles after a certain age if you can afford to spend a lot of time and a considerable amount of money on your hair. It's all very well for models and celebrities to wear their hair longer but they have hair stylists at their beck and call. Women in their forties do not have this luxury unless they are very lucky.

So hairstyles decisions for 40+ women wishing to change can not be entered into lightly. Get as much advice as you can from your hairdresser, make sure you have identified your hair type accurately, choose a hairstyle that will work, make sure that you have the right information about caring for your new hair style and remember - the cutting off as a relatively minor event, It's choosing the right hair style for your new, short hair that is the major one.

New Year, Time For a New You

New Year, Time For a New You
By Beth Price

Do you make a New Year's resolution every year only to find that by the middle of January you've already broken it? So this year instead of depriving yourself why not treat yourself instead? Why not get yourself an image consultation to transform your look for the New Year?

So what can an image consultant do for you?

Inject Colour

Most of us have very limited colour in our wardrobes, sticking to safe options such as black, white and beige. An image consultant will look at your own colouring (hair, skin and eyes) and will analyse which colours will flatter you most. Use of colour can dramatically change how you look and feel. When you wear the right colours the light reflects onto your face making you look younger, fitter and healthier. After a colour analysis most of my clients find they receive so many more compliments about how great they look. This makes them feel like a new person.

Transform Your Style

For most people style is a bit hit or miss. There can be so much choice in the shops and without clear direction on what to look for it is easy to make mistakes. An image consultant will analyse your body shape to make sure the styles, fabrics and patterns you buy will really make the most of your figure. A style consultation will also help you understand your style personality so that you feel comfortable in your clothes and they look like part of you. Two people can be exactly the same shape, size, age and colouring but if their personalities are very different they will need to choose different clothes to make sure they feel confident in them. A style consultation will also show you how to accessorize your outfits for more impact.

Update Your Make-up

Many women wear make-up in the same way they've always worn it and sometimes this can be aging. By getting some advice from an image consultant on how to update your make-up you'll ensure that the shades are right for you, that you know how to apply it properly and that you start the New Year with a youthful, fresh new look.

So whatever your shape, size and sex (oh yes, image consultancy works for men too!) make the most of yourself in 2009. Looking good can be the beginning of a whole new confident you and can help you achieve other goals in your life whether they may be finding a new partner or a new job, new hobbies or new friends.

6 Things You Must Know About a Hair Dryer

6 Things You Must Know About a Hair Dryer
By Mike T Kelly

Hair dryers are deemed as handy electrical devices used by many people nowadays. As a matter of fact, there are so many types of dryers to choose from. It is quite hard to distinguish the best quality models from the cheap ones. The best way to sort them out is by not relying on the attractive, elegant-looking model of hair dryer. You must opt for the good-quality features of the dryer instead. Then, check whether the features of the dryer are beneficial or not. The following are some handy tips to help you find the right dryer that matches your hair.

1. If you are looking for the hair dryer with the best results, you have to purchase the one that generates large numbers of negative ions. Why negative ions are important? The negative ions have the ability to split up the water droplets and convert them into tiny particles that can be easily sucked up by the hair shaft. This way the hair will be hydrated. It will also help even out the cuticle which makes the hair look soft, glossy and healthy.

2. In general, there are three types of dryers that can produce these ions. They are the ionic hair dyers, ceramic dryers, and tourmaline coated dryers. What makes them different from each other? Essentially the ionic hair dryers are specifically made to generate negative form of ions. On the other hand, the ceramic dryers are used by some people because of its capability to generate negative ions the moment they are heated. They also heat consistently and are known to be extremely antiseptic; while the tourmaline coated dryers have a special stone that produces many negative ions. However, these dryers with tourmaline coated components are very expensive compared to the other blow dryers.

3. Moreover, there are other things you have to take into consideration to make sure that you get the best dryer for your hair. One essential factor that you have to look into is the size of the motor of the dryer particularly its wattage. Keep in mind that the motor is powerful when it has higher wattage. With this, it would be much faster for you to blow dry your hair. Most of the professional hair dryers that are available in the market contain wattage of approximately 1800 watts.

4. Additionally, you also need to check the number of settings that the appliance have for its speed and heat. It is important to select the hair dryer that includes at least 2 settings meant for speed and another 2 settings designed for heat. The dryer must also include am easy push button to hem in the curls.

5. See to it that all the accessories of the appliance are included in the purchase. Usually, a good quality hair dryer has a concentrator nozzle, diffuser along with comb. The weight is also a factor that you need to take into account. Most expert hairstylists use a high-quality lightweight model of blow dryer especially when the hair of the customer is very long and thick.

6. Last but not least, verify the warranty of the hair blow dryer before buying it. The warranty may vary depending on the model of the dryer. Generally professional hair dryers cover a warranty of at least 2 years or more.

Collagen and Healthy Beauty

Collagen and Healthy Beauty
By Jerzy George

Since the dawn of time, humans have been looking for a way to keep their skin healthy and youthful. Thanks to recent technology, Natural Collagen products have been discovered. The amazing thing about this technology is that it has actually been around for many decades.

Sometimes, it just takes a bit of investigating in order to discover an obvious answer. What are Natural Collagen products? Simply put, they are skin care products that are derived from natural resources. Researchers have recently found that the collagen taken from fish by-products can make the skin appear refreshed and rejuvenated.

In addition to extracting natural collagen from fish by-products, researchers have also learned that collagen taken from fish skins also creates a drastic change when applied to the skin. Through a unique filtering system, these collagen extractions have been woven into a few specific skin care products that can slow down the aging process.

Why do Natural Collagen products work? Since collagen is a natural protein, the body does not reject this type of treatment. In fact, your body will absorb natural collagen products with ease creating an anti-aging effect. While many people often seek surgery in order to bring their skin back to life, going "under the knife" is not always necessary. Sometimes, it just takes the right skin care product to produce amazing results.

By restoring natural collagen to your skin, you will be able to re-create that vibrant look once more. While there are a large number of health and beauty products on the market, Natural Collagen skin care products make the most sense when you think about the science behind them.

The secret to maintaining that healthy glow is the understanding why the skin begins to age in the first place. Throughout the aging process, skin begins to lose its natural collagen and elasticity. The result of this process is skin that begins to look old, dull, and lifeless. Applying natural collagen to your skin will restore all of the collagen that it has lost.

Taking care of your skin is important if you want to keep it looking healthy and fresh. Aside from staying out of the sun and drinking plenty of water, you must also be careful when it comes to selecting face products. Products that are full of chemicals will only dry out your skin, but those skin care products made from natural substances will promote healthy skin.

Skin can be difficult to manage if it is not fully understood. However, with the proper knowledge on your side, your skin can keep looking healthy and vital for many years to come. Remember, skin is a living organism that requires a lot of special care and attention.

You may not be able to turn back the hands of time, but you can reverse the aging process with a few simple products that have been created with the help of Mother Nature. While chemicals will only dry out your skin producing dry, worn, skin, Natural Collagen will enhance the natural beauty that you once had.

How Do You Cut Hair?

How Do You Cut Hair?
By Davidton George

There's an art nowadays for cutting hair as studied by expert hairdressers. They know that males and females can change their personality when they change their hairstyle. Unique hairstyles always catch the attention of the public, fashion fans and so much more. When a person has a unique hairstyle, observers are always divided. They will love style or not and it totally depends on the current fashion trends, if the style actually suits the individual and how well the hairstyle has been presented.

So how do you cut hair?

What is very important when cutting hair, no matter if you are just cutting your own hair or you are a hairdresser is of course the tools used. Tools like the shears, scissors and/or razors which are needed to cut hair. Every tool will play its own part to the overall end result, if used correctly. A new hairstyle can have a very big impact on the person. Good styling tools are not the only important factor; it will also depend on the hairdresser and their skills with the tools.

Every hairstylist has a different technique which will vary depending on the type of hair as well as the desired style of haircut.

Do you cut hair wet?

Many hairdressers like to wet the hair first before cutting as they believe the hair can be handled easier. But if this 'wet haircutting' technique is not carried out with care and attention, the hairstyle can end up looking completely different when the hair becomes dry.

Do you cut hair dry?

The dry haircut technique is a much easier way of cutting hair if you have little experience. You will be able to determine how the haircut is looking as you cut. There's also wet to dry haircutting. This type of technique involves your hair being sprinkled with water while being cut, followed by blow drying.

Do you cut hair with clippers?

Nowadays, many hairstyles are created with the use of electric clippers. Cutting with clippers more of a cool, rough style. Using clippers can either make the person look cool and contemporary or look like a hard looking drill sergeant with a short and spiky hair cut. Clippers can be used to cut both men and women's hair but it does require a steady hand as mistakes are easily made.

Everyone cuts hair in a different way. As always, practice makes perfect. Just be wary of who you practice on. Get it wrong and they may have something to say that you won't wish to hear!

Every one wants to have nice hair. Making the best of the hair on your head is easy with the right advice. For more information, visit the Hairstyling Information website.

Perfume and Cologne Categories and Families - Categories of Perfume

Perfume and Cologne Categories and Families - Categories of Perfume
By Patricia Warner

Perfume and cologne is on the rise and finding itself to be increasingly used more and more by today's consumers. While on the one hand, bad smells are counteracted by fragrances including perfumes and colognes, people including marketing experts are now trying to introduce this sense into multimedia-based experiences. Wouldn't that be cool to smell your favorite perfume or cologne through your computer? The aim is to make the fragrance a unique feature for a certain brand or location. Fragrances including perfume, cologne, air fresheners, laundry detergent, candles, etc. help make this world smell a little better. You need to be aware of what fragrances you are interested in as well as the different family's and categories are that are contained in the perfumes and colognes you like and prefer. Tobacco Lifestyle Cologne: A great uncommon distinguished fragrance for an uncommon man. For a powerful man who wants his presence felt.

I hope this list of categorization of the two families helps in picking which and what types of perfume and cologne is best for you. Make sure to experiment occasionally and try something different. Ask for other peoples opinions as constructive criticism is often very helpful. Also make sure to begin light with your application. Do not over do it when putting on our favorite discount perfume or cologne fragrance. It should be apart of your impression and appearance not your whole appearance.

I 've had my fair share of troubles with picking or creating the right perfume or cologne for me or a gift for someone else. I have been around perfume and cologne for over 20 years. A great site I've found and used many times to purchase discount perfume and cologne is http://www.YourNewFragrance.Com

1) Set Your Price Range
Determine the price range you can afford. Lip gloss can vary in price from cheap normal brands to very expensive for designer brands. There are plenty of choices available at local Drug stores which are very affordable. Some normal brands can be good lip gloss with good moistening effect, do not over-look them.

2) Select The Type of Lip Gloss

There are two main types of lip gloss, they are tube and pot. Let me explain briefly here: The tube type will include a wand for application while the pot type you must use your finger or a brush to apply. Do make sure which way of application you like.

3) Choose The Color and Shine Level

Next is you need to pick a color and shine level you prefer. There are endless choices of colors, what you can think of is available in the market today. Choose the one that suits your makeup or skin tone. Some varieties contain oils and shimmer for extra shine and glossiness.

Buy lip gloss with conditioning capabilities if you have dry or sensitive lips. Lip gloss with conditioning effect will contain aloe, vitamin E or Shea butter to keep your lips moisturized up to 24 hours around the clock.

5) Additional Options For Enhancing The Volume of Your Lips (Optional)

Another point to take note is if you want to enhance the volume of your lips consider buying plumping lip gloss. It is rather new to the market and most of them contain vitamin E which increases circulation to your lips resulting in a fuller and more robust look when applied

6) Consider Buying On line and Get Free Shipping

Nowadays you can consider buying from on line and most likely will get a better discount, much more cheaper than buying at a local skin care store. On line auction sites have a huge selection of lip glosses from the most popular brands to normal brands which most people can afford and they offer discounts and free shipping most of the time.

I used lip gloss myself and most of the time I enjoyed buying them at auction sites which most of them offers lip gloss sale with really cheap prices even if it is a branded lip gloss

Five Reasons to Show Your Underarms - The Next Big Fad?

Five Reasons to Show Your Underarms - The Next Big Fad?
By Phil Grisolia

Is nothing sacred anymore? TV has long presented us with commercials for products used or consumed in virtually every part of our homes. There's been stuff for our yards, our basements, our living room and our kitchens. From there the tour grew to include our bathrooms and - in more recent years - our bedrooms and the various activities that might be improved there. Apparently having run out of rooms to take us to, the those commercials moved to body parts? But underarms?

We've been subjected to commercials for potions and lotions to improve our hair - even to re-grow or replace it if ours is lacking or missing altogether. We've been presented with remedies for the eyes and nose, devices to whiten and brighten our teeth, even sprays to soothe our irritated throats. And we can almost forgive those commercials that prescribe ways to cleanse our innards.

Moving on, there are remedies galore for our aching joints, our athlete's feet, even those snarling and downright ugly little fungi - plural of fungus, I think - that spend their lives nibbling at or around our toenails.

But the most recent focus on body parts to which our collective attention has been directed is without a doubt the most unique - the underarms of an attractive young lady wearing a sleeveless top as she dances and prances - arms over her head -- through the streets of some nameless city.

All the more hilarious - though bordering a bit on the outrageous - is the statement at the opening of the spot that the young lady has five reasons to show her underarms. To a hotel doorman, a cab driver, a police officer and others, us included?

The marketing gurus have added a whole new dimension to the phrase, "Think outside the box"? They may have even started a new fad...women of the world going about their business with their arms raised over their heads in the belief that there's no end to the number of reasons they can show their underarms.

What was the name of that young lady's deodorant? Gee, I don't remember.

The Best Alcohol Free Hair Products

The Best Alcohol Free Hair Products
By Gerd Cornelius Pacher

If your hair is stiff and crunches when you touch it then it is time to take a good look at the ingredients that are in your hair products. If alcohol is listed as the first or second ingredient then it is time to find some new hair care products. Alcohol dries out your hair and prolonged use will damage your hair so you want to look for alcohol free hair products. If your hair is color-treated you'll want to avoid alcohol-laden hair products to minimize dryness.

To add texture to your hair the best product I could find on the market is Redken 05 Touch Control Volumizing Texture Whip. As an added bonus, this product leaves your hair very shiny and not at all sticky or stiff, yet holds your hair in place. Another excellent volumizing alcohol free product is Mousse Plus by Nexxus. It adds lanolin and amino acids to your hair while holding it in place and pumping it up.

If you are looking for a product that will shine your hair, check out Silque Hair Shine. This alcohol free product treats frizzy and damaged hair while adding shine and luster. Aveeda makes a line of products called Pure-Fume Brilliant. All of the products smell spectacularly and are alcohol free. I recommend the Thermal Styling Crème for shine and smoothing wild hair.

Try Hempz Firm Hold Shaping Spray if you need serious hold. The product contains hemp seed oil, which makes your hair soft and touchable, yet still holds your style in place. Consider buying Biotera products too because they have a nice line of moisturizing hair products. The Biotera Styling Gel adds lift and holds your hair.

You can get some really great natural products for your hair that is alcohol free as well. Honeybee Gardens makes an organic hair spray that holds your hair in place without adding and lacquer. I like Aloe Hair Spray by CWS. Just spray a little on your roots to add body to your tresses.

Improve your image by improving the way your hair looks. Alcohol free hair beauty products can change your look. Click here to find out how. http://www.hairbeautyproducts.org/

10 Beauty Tips That Are Ecologically Sound and Free!

10 Beauty Tips That Are Ecologically Sound and Free!
By Moni Schifler

Ten budget eco beauty tips:

1. The first thing that comes to mind is of course to eat as much raw food as possible. The more water the food contains the better. A lot of highly paid models switch into raw food mode when they have an important shoot coming up. When I say raw food, I mean raw fruits and vegetables. Some people swear raw eggs give them glowing complexions but personally I would be too afraid of food borne illnesses to even consider that.

2. As you use these raw foods - two stand out in particular. Avocados and Papaya. While you prepare your yummy avocado or papaya dishes DO NOT throw out the peels. Rubbing the insides of either of these two all over your face makes a completely free, super effective mask, that when left on for anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes nourishes the face and leaves your skin re-hydrated and smooth. Of course do not forget to rinse off after 15 minutes especially if you are expecting guests! Cost: free!

3. For oily skin and acne an egg white mask is particularly good. It draws out impurities and absorbs oil. Directions: beat an egg white until it is frothy - apply to face - let it dry and set - you will want to lie down - after all you have egg on your face! - leave on for 15 to 20 minutes - rinse with water. Your skin will be tight and balanced. Cost: cents

4. Everybody knows the "old tea bags on the eyes trick". Again you are using something you would otherwise toss out. The tannin in the tea acts as an astringent that helps to shrink puffy tissue. Cost: free

5. Dandruff solution: Dissolve two or three aspirins in a warm glass of water - pour on scalp and let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with cool water. The salicylic acid in the aspirin is often an active ingredient in over the counter expensive dandruff remedies. Cost: cents

6. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps promise 18 different uses on their labels and indeed you can be very creative with these little treasures. They come in several different scented versions, everything from rose to lavender to peppermint. Even somebody who does not like the idea of mixing and combining different ingredients will love these.

All you have to do is dilute, dilute, dilute. For about $ 3 you will get a 4 oz bottle that is a little powerhouse. Dilute ½ tablespoon in one cup and you will have an extremely affordable, mild shampoo, hand soap, body wash and shaving soap. The beauty applications are almost endless while at the same time you can use the same product in a stronger dilution to clean floors, pets, dishes, laundry, cars, countertops, baths and toilets! Dr. Bronner's only uses 100% recycled bottles, the soaps are 100% fair trade, organic, vegetable based and biodegradable and the company prieds itself never to have paid for advertising. It has grown for over 100 years strictly on word of mouth! Cost: about 3$ for 4 oz of concentrate that will produce a gallon of soap.

7. Deodorants are easy to be made at home. You will want to avoid the over the counter ones because they contain aluminum which has been linked to Alzheimer's disease, and the aluminum free ones do cost a lot of money. Natural alternatives include using orange or lemon peel - just rub under your arm. You could also use freshly cut slices of lemon or orange, just not right after shaving or if you have sensitive skin. Aloe vera juice is also refreshing and soothes sensitive skin. Just pinch a leaf and use the gel. A recipe for a spray deodorant would have to include equal parts alcohol - clear vodka works well - water - and a couple of drops of essential oils -pretty much your choice - rose, lavender, citrus comes to mind. Mix, put in a spray bottle - ready. Cost: Depends on the kind of vodka. Lol, no seriously - definitely under five dollars or much less even!

8. For a free hand treatment make it a habit every time you cook to use a little oil on the back of your hands. Any oil will work fine, favorites include olive oil and coconut oil. As you measure and pour the oil into the pan for stir-fry or bowl for salad dressing, simply tap the cap of your oil container on the back of your hands, rub the two backs of your hands together and leave on during cooking. Afterwards you could rinse off the excess oil, but often you will find that the oil has absorbed completely! Cost: free

9. Several fruits make excellent masks not only for your face but also for the hair. You can mash bananas, melons, berries, avocados and mix with a little olive or coconut oil. Apply to hair, wrap head in warm, moist towel and wait half hour, then wash as per usual. Cost: around one dollar, depending on fruit used.

10. Salt Glow you can bring this spa treatment home by simply mixing two tablespoons sea salt and two tablespoons oil of your choice. Just rub on any part of you skin that needs softening such as elbows, knees or heels. Cost: under one dollar.

Fabulous Beauty Tips - Which Cosmetics Create the Perfect Finish?

Fabulous Beauty Tips - Which Cosmetics Create the Perfect Finish?
By Kacy Carr

Why is it so important to have access to makeup and cosmetic advice before use? An honest answer is because some women haven`t got a clue how to apply makeup properly to create the perfect finish. Every beauty product will be tried and tested to an extent where it is given the okay after reaching the final stage to prove that it will do the job for which it was purposely developed. If these products are not used accordingly - then heaven forbid on the result.

Come on girls be honest, have you never joked at another`s expense because of their lipstick shade or to how it was applied. We have more women walking round like Coco the Clown than that of a natural beauty. There is a technique to applying cosmetics and to buying them. Yes; it all begins at the shop counter. Use the wrong beauty product can only result in a wrong you. Ideal beauty products for your skin type and hair colouring are vital.
The first step to being beautiful is to ask yourself, do you really need cosmetics. Natural beauty comes from within. If you feel naked with out lipstick then you owe it to yourself to find out the tricks of the trade.

Useful tips below.

Aloe Vera - Resembling the cactus, it is a plant belonging to the Lily family. Some varieties have valuable medicinal purposes. Much of the plant is water, but the outer leaf contains sap which is included in lotions and gels. Aloe Vera is rich in vitamins/minerals and is also a fabulous source for skin care. It is used for skin conditions like eczema, mild burns and scrapes.

Mascara - If you want to maximise volume then simply buy mascara designed for volume. They are clearly marked. Ask chemist assistant if unsure. More volume in mascara means the more solid in-depth look to your eyes

Nail Polish - Apply clear base coat before using coloured polish. Base-coat is important as it helps prevent nail polish staining the nails; it also gives a smooth even finish on which to apply the colour. Best technique for applying nail varnish is to do it in three strokes: one down the center and one down each side. Keep cotton wool pads and polish remover easily to hand for fear of a slip up. Toenails can be awkward to cover. Sit comfortably resting one foot on a stool in front of you and separate each toe with separators. Use cotton wool or rolled up rags if you have no toe separators. Save time because you don't have to wait for the first coat to dry before second application. The first coat will wet again as soon as the solvent from the second comes in contact. Two thin coats will dry quicker than one thick layer of which can appear unsightly. Wait until this dries and apply top coat to seal.

Some women disagree to the three stroke method. If you have large nails paint the whole nail, if you have short/small nails paint the same. If you have short fingers only apply polish to the centre of the nail. Use pale shades for short stubby hands and dark shades for the delicate look.

Foundation - Make sure you have removed every trace of makeup from the day before fresh foundation is applied. Makeup should be cleansed off every night. New foundation layered over leftover debris looks unattractive? Never rush any beauty pact with the face as it can have disastrous results. When you apply foundation have the room nice and bright. Dim lighting will promote the colour in a different tone.

Perfume - Choosing Scent is not really quite straight forward. Remember the smell of scent on another person may not be the same on you. Spicy musk is said to arouse sexual emotions and vanilla is believed to be an aphrodisiac. Floral scents are seen as fresh and calming.
Skin types react differently to perfume so bear this in mind when testing.

Never rely on sniffing perfume from the bottle, Spray or dab onto the skin. Leave to settle for 5 minutes. Do not sample more than 4-5 perfumes at once, this will only confuse your judgement. Apply scent to pulse point on the wrist or in the crook of the elbow. Flowery fragrances are more ideal in hot months. Perfume is best applied to pulse points: the inner wrists, behind the ears, and lower neck

Lip-liner -There is a knack to applying this beauty asset, one is not to rush and to have a steady hand. Lip-liner should be near to same shade as your lipstick, Ensure your pencil is sharp to get a good line. A blunt lip-liner pencil is a no go.

Draw along the lips, beginning at the center and working towards the edges, both sides from the middle each time; this gives the best shape and smoothest line. Do not rush. Lip-liner should be applied before lipstick. It makes sense i.e. smudging. Not recommended to cut corners initiating this task.

Blusher -To get the best affect from blusher is to find one most natural to your skin colouring. The primary object is to choose a colour that matches your cheeks natural colour.
Use a lighter colour during the day and darker for the evening

Powder - Apply face powder on the lips, it is said to make lipstick last longer and prevent 'bleeding'.

A regular mistake made with eyeliner is to draw a thick black line across the lid, rather than working the pigment into the lash roots. The ideal way is to warm the pencil on the back of your hand first and lining the upper lid, look upwards, and apply from below the lashes to get a subtle blended line. If your eyes are small or deep-set, line the lower lashes, too, applying a dark shadow with a blunt brush for a softer effect. Black is poplar and suits everyone, however teach yourself to compliment

Accentuate blue eyes using warm-toned eye shadows; deep purple and blues work just as well as gold and copper shades, provided a warm undertone is retained. Never be tempted to over add as it can spoil the look altogether. Hazel eyes look fabulous with soft plum, brown and forest greens, while brown eyes just about suit any colour or shade of eye shadow.

Laughter lines - All you need to hide laughter lines is a concealer pencil. Draw a few small lines next to the edges of the mouth with pencil, not to much. Use a sponge to blend in to the corner of the mouth - and hey presto you crack a smile without the cracks.

Celebrity Beauty Secrets Revealed

Celebrity Beauty Secrets Revealed
By A. Covington

Sure, it's their job to look good and they have plenty of help achieving their beauty goals but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't look as good as our favorite celebrities.

One tip celebrities learn early on is that beauty is achieved from the inside out and prevention is key. Going under the knife these days draws as much scrutiny as a bad beach photo showing dimpled thighs and belly fat. Celebrities are simply supposed to look fabulous but without showing the obvious signs of how they achieved the results. But we all know that nothing happens by magic.

We've asked celebrity makeup artists, skincare specialists, nutritionists, doctors and other professionals that work with today's hottest celebrities to share some of the secrets to treating common skin complaints and achieving younger looking, radiant skin at any age.

Protect Skin from the Environment

Stars like Kate Hudson know that protecting their skin from harsh UV rays and environmental irritants helps to preserve the skin's precious collagen reserves. Kate is a fan of Juice Beauty Green Apple Antioxidant Serum.

Actress Cate Blanchett turns to N.V. Perricone Olive Oil Polyphenols Nutrient Face Fortifier (Whew! What a name!) to keep her skin protected with antioxidant packed polyphenols, which also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Super Hydration

It's all about the dewy complexion in Hollywood. So if you're skin is as dry as sandpaper, you'd better get to hydrating (dry skin is more prone to fine lines, making you look older). Debra Messing always seems to pull off the quenched look. Try a dollop of Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Serum to lock in moisture (plus the Vitamin A fights the signs of aging).

Ivanka Trump gets her Springtime glow from SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque. Sure, she's already young but infusing her skin with youth-boosting hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 can keep her looking as young as she feels. Model-turned-actress Molly Sims moisturizes with Dr. Brandt contour effect moisturizing cream, which plumps up the skin by drenching it with moisture-and moisture is our friend.

Dark Circles

Katherine Heigl relies on Hylexin to stop undereye circles and puffiness in their tracks. The ingredients in Hylexin reinforce capillaries that deposit blood in the undereye area creating those persistent dark circles. So say goodbye to raccoon eyes and hello sexy!

Ashunta Sheriff, exclusive makeup artist to Alicia Keys, offers this advice for making tired eyes look brighter and more rested, "Concealer will definitely take away the appearance of dark circles. Also, even though this skincare line is targeted for men, I've used Morning After Rescue Remedy Gel by Nickel. With caffeine, cucumber and other vital ingredients for under eye skin, it perks eyes up quickly and makes them look refreshed."

Adult Acne

Yes, even supermodels get pimples. Earlier this year supermodel Gisele Bundchen was asked what beauty tricks she's picked up over the years and responded by saying, "I had a really horrible pimple on my nose, and a makeup artist gave me Nelsons Acne Gel. I kept putting it on, and my pimple went away. I was like, this is great. It doesn't burn your skin."

Statistics suggest that roughly 85% of the American population have a problem with acne. The Nelsons homeopathic acne gel actually works and contains no artificial colors, artificial fragrances, or animal products and it is not tested on animals. It's made from natural ingredients like extracts of organically grown hypericum perforatum, calendula, and arnica.

Now that you are armed with all of this beauty advice, your favorite celebrity will have some new competition!

Choosing Hairstyles To Suit Your Hair Texture, Hair Type and Face Shape

Choosing Hairstyles To Suit Your Hair Texture, Hair Type and Face Shape
By Jo Rushworth

Before deciding on a hairstyle you should take into consideration your hair texture and hair type and opt for a style you can manage easily. You should also consider whether a particular hairstyle will suit your face shape.

Fine Hair - There are various ways in which you can add body and volume to fine hair. These include correct cutting and shaping techniques, chemical wave or root lift applications. Choose styles with minimum graduation such as bob cuts and wedges. Layers will create an illusion of thickness. Keep hair short to shoulder length.

Coarse Hair - To help disguise an overall heavy look, cut is very important. Look for hairstyles that lessen the bulk and weight that coarse hair produces. Layer cuts or razor cuts will thin out the thickness of your hair, and in the process, give a sleeker finish.

Straight Hair - Simple, geometric haircuts like bobs are perfect for straight hair of any texture. If you prefer your hair long, tapered layers along the face will soften hard lines. For extra volume, add layers from the last three inches to the ends.

Curly Hair - Possibly the most versatile of all. You can use straightening products or let it go soft and curly on its own. Layered hair cuts reduce bulk and the curls are easier to maintain. If you wear your hair long, the curls tend to be slightly looser with the weight of your hair. Razor-cuts are not advised for hair that tends to be frizzy.

Your best cut is determined by your face, so strive for a hairstyle that works with your particular face shape. Using this strategy will help create a balance that can change the appearance of a face shape and also emphasize your best features.

Here are some guidelines:

Square Face - Choose a hairstyle that will create softness and detract from a square jaw line such as long layers with soft waves, curls or choppy ends. You can also get away with short, spiky cuts and long, sleek styles with layers that start at the jawline and continue downward. A centre parting or chin length bobs and square bangs (fringes) on the forehead will accentuate a square face, so avoid those geometric lines.

Round Face - Try cuts that fall just below the chin. Soft, graduated layers are ideal because they make your face appear slimmer and remove volume from the sides. Consider wispy and tapered ends. These de-emphasize the roundness of your face. Add some height to the top of the head to make your face look longer.

Long Face - Choose a style with layers or go for a chin length bob with a fringe which will create horizontal lines. Scrunch dried or curly bobs balance a long face. Brow-skimming bangs are also ideal because they create the illusion of width. Avoid short cuts or styles that add height on top.

Heart shaped Face - Opt for long sideswept bangs and a length that frames the jaw line. Keep top layers soft and long. Avoid short, blunt-cut bangs and harsh, choppy layers.

Oval Face - With this face shape, you have the advantage of being able to pull off any look. However, much depends on the quality of hair; thin, wavy, straight etc. Avoid short layers that add height on top of your head. This will make your face appear long. If your hair is thick or curly, avoid a blunt cut.

Keys To Looking Younger - 4 Anti-Aging Tips You Can Use Today

Keys To Looking Younger - 4 Anti-Aging Tips You Can Use Today
By Lina S. Yates

Many anti-aging products do work, but they're expensive, and there are, of course, no guarantees. If you've been on the lookout for ways to look younger, here are four ways to get your skin and face looking its best:

1. Gentle facial massage. Giving yourself a facial massage can work wonders. Use your fingertips to lightly massage different parts of your face - but remember, gentle is the keyword here.

What does a gentle massage do? It increases the circulation in your face by stimulating the blood vessels under your skin, which will revitalize you and give you a subtle glow that can take years off.

2. Drink lots of water. Keep a glass of water nearby throughout the day, and when you're feeling thirsty, reach for that glass of water instead of for anything else, like soda or coffee.

Drinking lots of water improves your ciruclation and also keeps your body hydrated. A properly hydrated body is a happy one, and you'll see the improvements in your face.

3. Implement a nightly skin care routine. You'll be glad you did. As our skin ages, regular moisturizing and cleansing can be very beneficial.

Developing and keeping to a routine will help keep you on track. Never go to bed without removing your make-up, and remember to moisturize after your cleansing routine. Use cleansers and moisturizers that are the right type for your skin.

4. Keep it gentle. Whether you're giving yourself a facial massage, or you're applying a mask or a cream, it's important to remember to be gentle.

As our skin ages, it loses the elasticity of youth. Pushing too hard can cause damage. So remember to be gentle with your movements when it comes to your skin.

Indoor Tanning VS. Outdoor Tanning Tips

By Jacky Welles

During the summer, we all want to be tan. There is nothing better than being able to walk outside and show off your bronze skin. Once summer hits, everyone runs to the indoor tanning salons while some people decide to lie on their deck and tan with the help of the sun. With indoor tanning and outdoor tanning both options give us that bronze skin we all want, but which one is better?

Most recently, the benefits that indoor tanning provides versus the ones that outdoor tanning provides have been widely debated and discussed, mainly in the health and cosmetic industries. In the end, it is up to you to choose which one you like better. Make your decision upon which one is most convenient and which one is the healthiest for you.

If you decide to tan indoors at a tanning salon, your skin is able to tan the same way it does in the sun. Basically, your skin absorbs ultraviolet light that is let off by the sun, or by the UV lights in your local tanning salon.

One of the biggest dangers of tanning outdoors is that sometimes you can expose your skin to too much ultraviolet light. This can cause sunburn which can lead to certain types of skin cancer. When tanning outdoors, it is important to use sunscreen before lying in the sun to catch some rays. When tanning outside, you are not able to control the amount of UV rays that hit your body from the sun. Unfortunately, we cannot control the sun.

On the other hand, indoor tanning is beneficial as you are able to control the amount of UV rays that your body is exposed to while tanning. Many never have to worry about sunburn, though many tanning salons offer tanning supplies that have added sunscreen that is not as strong, but are strong enough to prevent burning.

When compared to indoor tanning, outdoor tanning is not as reliable, especially if you are looking to get the perfect summer tan. Sunburn is about the only thing you can rely on when tanning outdoors. Sunburn makes your skin very red, but your skin will eventually fade to a brown color. Unfortunately, this does nothing but make the aging process approach quicker.

Indoor tanning salons offer equipment that uses UVA rays and UVC rays, both are emitted from the sun but differ slightly. The best part about tanning salons is the fact that they are regulated by the government. Tanning indoors is nothing but a mimic of tanning outdoors.

When visiting an indoor tanning salon, the staff working at the salon are usually able to determine how much exposure your skin can tolerate. This is able to protect you against any sort of skin damage that is very common with people who decide to tan outdoors.

If you are still deciding whether to tan indoors our outdoors, pick the one that is most convenient for you. With outdoor tanning, you have to be aware of the weather, the UV index, as well as the temperature outside. Outdoor tanning has no regulations, and there are no limits to the amount of UV rays that reach your body.

With indoor tanning, you never have to worry about the weather. You also do not h

Beauty Products - How To Read Labels

Beauty Products - How To Read Labels
By Jane Christie

Have you ever tried to read the back of a bottle of shampoo to find out what's in the shampoo? And did you get confused?

I would guess that most of you would answer "yes" and that it would be the same story for any personal care product. Most likely, you'll see several ingredient names that look very "chemical". Consequently, you may not have a clue as to what they are, how much there is or what their function is in the product, or what effect, good or bad, they may have on your skin and body.

Beauty Product ingredient labels are not put there to educate us. They only exist to comply with government legislation, but we can still learn from them.

Here are some basic tips about how to decipher the information supplied on personal care packaging so that you can make a more informed purchase decision.

While regulations vary from country to country regarding labeling on personal care products, most countries have legislation enforcing the full disclosure of all ingredients in a product, starting with the highest amount and progressing to the lowest by volume or mass.

Some countries require the full chemical name of each ingredient (INCI name). Other nations may allow the trade name to be used. Some require the botanical name of herbal extracts and others will allow just the common name to be used.

So it is worth checking what the legislation is, regarding labeling of products in your country.

This may sound a bit daunting, but a quick search of the relevant government website is usually all it takes, or a phone call to the relevant government department.

Unlikely as it may first seem, anyone can learn the fundamentals of understanding labels on personal care and beauty products. Even knowing a little more about those mystifying labels, will simplify your choices about what to buy.

Usually the first three ingredients listed make up the bulk of the product. Quite often you will see "water" as the first ingredient listed. Water is a great carrier for other active ingredients and reduces the strength of other ingredients so that they will not be too harsh on the skin or hair.

If it is a foaming product such as a shampoo, shower gel or bubble bath then surfactants are going to be high on the list of ingredients. There are different types of surfactants that have different functions in any beauty product. In this instance the surfactant is what gives the product its cleansing and foaming properties. Quite often there is more than one surfactant in a personal care product.

If you are looking at a moisturizer then the moisturizing ingredients and emulsifiers will be high on the list. A moisturizer can contain up to about 80% water.

Lower on the list you will find the ingredients that are added as mildness additives (ingredients that are used to counter some of the harshness of the primary active ingredients, particularly in foamy products); ingredients that will give the product a nice feel; therapeutic ingredients such as herbal extracts and aromatherapy oils; thickeners; fragrances; colors; and preservatives. Artificial colors and fragrances are usually listed as codes of letters and numbers. Quite often they are not listed at all.

This primer on the "how to read" part of labels puts you in a better position to decide whether the individual ingredients themselves are what you really want to place on your skin and hair. Making those choices is another task again, but you have taken the important first step.

Beauty Tips - Using Beauty Care Products

Beauty Tips - Using Beauty Care Products
By Ray Lam

There are ways that almost anyone can have beautiful skin they can be proud of; some simple changes to your skin care regime which you will learn here will make all the difference. In the West, women have taken the task of staying attractive to extremes with the use of plastic surgery, liposuction and other invasive treatments. The financial benefit of beauty care products over conventional cosmetic surgery is huge but there are also health benefits which any other type of cosmetic enhancement procedure cannot match.

It is no longer fair to just consider beauty care products as those used be the elderly like anti-aging products. The number of products available is huge and continues to grow; all designed to improve the health and beauty of the skin. We often forget that our skin is an organ that needs looking after as it has a difficult job to and needs regular help.

The first step in skin care is making sure your skin is clean as pollution like dust, bacteria and make-up all take their toll, so the skin must be clean. Gently massage your cleanser into your skin in circular motions using your fingertips and then rinse off with warm water but only pat your skin with a soft towel to dry it.

To ensure your PH balance is not disrupted, you will need to use a tone after the cleanser has been applied. Lotions and moisturizers massaged into the skin help to reduce the effect of wrinkles and ensure the skin is more supple. Moisturizing also has the added bonus of locking in the moisture that can be lost without its use, so do not skimp on this beauty care product.

Each week, at least once, and as part of your skin care regime you should exfoliate the skin to remove dead cells which will help provide a deeper cleanse. It is important to remove all traces of the peel or exfoliant so you will need to cleanse the skin and then tone and moisturize as normal.

For those people that suffer with puffy or baggy skin below the eyes, formulated beauty care product creams are able to help alleviate this problem making the skin much suppler and improving its elasticity. Taking some form of daily exercise and drinking plenty of water are two things you don't need to spend a fortune on but will really improve the skin tone and feel. It is not a good idea to forget the important role our skin plays in our overall health and of course how we look so taking care of it is not just about vanity.

Cellulite - Get Rid of Cellulite

Cellulite - Get Rid of Cellulite
By Ray Lam

Under the skin of many women is a distasteful condition known as cellulite which produces an orange peel look to the affected area of tissue; it is generally found in the lower half of the body. It would be unfair to say this is a condition exclusive to overweight women because that couldn't be further from the truth; even sporting women who do not carry much additional fat can have this condition.

A number of fats collect in the lower areas of skin and push against the connecting tissues forcing the skin to pucker or have a dimpled look which is called cellulite. After many years of research, scientists still cannot determine the exact reason for its formation or why some are affected more than others but there may be some connection between toxins that enter the body and how certain fat cells store them.

One thing is certain though and that is as a persons age increases, the amount of this fatty tissue increases in the same way that wrinkles also form which is probably due to the reduction of the two components that keep the skin looking young; collagen and elastin. It is classified as a hormonal imbalance experienced by women and seldom appears on males as normally fat stored in the thighs and buttock is the same as fat stored all over the body so no difference is observed.

Often the cellulite goes unnoticed and it is only when a person's muscles are compressed or the skin is pinched that it can be seen and felt but women should not feel depressed about the problem as most suffer with it to a greater or lesser degree. There are several factors that contribute to the build-up; genetics probably, gender, the amount of excess fats in your body, age is a major factor and the thickness of the skin are all instrumental to its presence and just how visible it is, even at a distance.

As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes the problem, it makes it difficult creating a cure even though a number have been tried including special burning creams. A large number of cosmetic clinics are now offering a massage service which they say rids the cellulite but it in fact hides it by puffing up the skin in the areas affected.

Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove the fat cells and even by injecting drugs directly into the affected sacks directly. Liposuction is rarely that effective with surface based fat like cellulite and is more proficient at removing deeper fats from the body which are not trapped in the cells but none of these treatments offer anything but short term relief only.

Whilst the creams that claim to burn the fat deposits away may not be very successful, the latest generation is designed to hide the condition although once again this is a short term answer. So far the best method is back to basics combining a healthy diet with exercise that gradually burns off the fat but not the connective tissue where it is found.

Many toxins that accumulate in the body can be flushed out with regular amounts of water which some believe is still an effective way to keep the body free of harmful substances including the toxins which help with the formation of cellulite.
