Homemade Recipes For Facial Masks
By Marcus Ryan
Facial masks are a great way to refresh and revitalize your face. There are many types of facial masks. Some exfoliate while others moisturize, some relax while others refresh. There are some excellent products on the market, but there are also some fantastic homemade recipes that are easy to make. Your skin will love you.
Now that you know you don't have to spend a bundle on facial masks, it's a good time to share a few recipes with you.
Most homemade recipes for facial masks require little more than what already lives in your kitchen. The most important thing to remember is to use a mask that's appropriate to your skin. For example, if you have oily skin use a mask that will balance your skin, but if you have dry skin, use a mask that will hydrate the skin.
Here are a few recipes for facial masks but don't be afraid to experiment and make your own recipes. And of course there are plenty of recipes online.
Banana Face Mask For Oily Skin
Bananas are a common household fruit, which makes this recipe a simple one to put together. You can even use those overripe bananas. Just pop them in the freezer and thaw before you need.
You will need:
1 banana (medium to ripe)
2 tbsp of honey (can use processed or unprocessed)
3 lemon juice drops
Puree the banana then add the honey and mix thoroughly. Add 3 lemon drops (concentrate is fine). Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water and a washcloth.
Clay Face Mask For All Skin Types
Clay masks are excellent for drawing out impurities from the skin.
You will need:
3 tsp green clay (can get from beauty shops)
3 tbsp aloe vera gel
2 tbsp rosewater (with real essence)
4 drops rose essential oil
Add the aloe vera gel, rosewater, and rose essential oil to your green clay. Mix thoroughly. You can refrigerate up to a month. Apply a thin layer to your face and leave on 15 minutes. If it is not completely dry by 15 minutes leave on until it is. Gently wash off and then apply your favorite moisturizer. Enjoy the refreshing feeling of your skin.
Yogurt Face Mask For Dry Skin Types
This is a cooling and soothing mask that's excellent for dry skin types but it's great for all skin types and excellent for sunburned skin.
You will need:
2 tbsp of non flavored natural yogurt at room temperature. Make sure it is "not" low fat.
2 tsp of honey. If it is the hard type, heat gently until soft.
Mix the ingredients together and apply to your face. Leave on for 20 minutes. Wash your face with a steamy washcloth. If you have oily skin just add a couple of drops of lemon.
There you have it. There are plenty of facial masks available online that you can make from home. They are affordable, and full of fresh, healthy ingredients. With just these three you can get started. Your skin will thank for the pampering.
